Occasionally, Dwdws.com may request certain information, required for processing any order for one of our services. This information is kept off-line, and is stored within a secure server. Access to this information is limited, and can only be viewed in relation to any particular order.

When you submit your web site to Dwdws.com, you accept that your web site and business details can be searched for and viewed.

When you pay for any of our services on-line, your information is gathered through a 128-bit Secure Socket Layer connection (SSL). Then this information is never kept on file once the order has been processed.

Dwdws will never share information relating to any of our customer, with any other 3rd party, except in cases where legal authorities request for any such data.

We do not circulate any of our customer emails to any 3rd party.

We collect the following information: - Name, email address. We will also request further information, such as your address and telephone number. These details are required for order processing and customer care.

Data Protection Act 1998

  • Came into force on 1 March 2000
  • Applies to data held in manual records, on computer or on a web site
  • Confers powers on the Data Protection Commissioner to issue Codes of Practice (a Code relating to the use of CCTV cameras has been issued and a draft Code prepared concerning monitoring of email by employers)
  • Imposes criminal penalties for misuse of personal data

Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000

  • Came into force on 31 October 2000
  • Relate to "distance contracts" including online contracts
  • Require traders to perform contract within 30 days, failing which the contract may be treated as never having been concluded
  • Require traders to give information about contract terms and existence of 7 days cooling off period (extended to 3 months if the information is not provided)

Dwdws.com - Privacy

We aim to ensure that our customers feel happy and secure with purchasing our services via the internet or via post.

No information, under any circumstances shall be passed onto, or shared with any other 3rd party. On cancellation of any of the Dwdws.com’s services, we shall remove all records of any information we have stored digitally.

All information we obtain is collected and stored securely with use of a 128bit SSL connection. No paper based data is kept on file, and all information is stored digitally, off-line. Access to all/any data is restricted within a password protected environment.

We do not publish any of our customer’s email addresses online, or offline

Collected information: -

1 – Currently, when you subscribe to the Dwdws.com newsletter, your email is stored within a database, which is stored securely online. You can subscribe and unsubscribe to the Dwdws.com newsletter anytime.

2 – All submissions onto the Dwdws.com Business Directory must contain certain information and details which are essential and required during the submission process. This information can be used via the Dwdws.com search to identify particular businesses and individuals. These details are: - Name/Business name, web site address.

3 – During the submission process, we must take certain precautions  as so to ensure that we can deal with any fraudulent activity. This includes logging the IP address of the submitter. The IP address can be used by, and only by the authorities and the ISP responsible for the allocation of such IP addresses to the end-user, to identify the end-user during any legal enquiry. Dwdws.com is not able to identify anyone from the IP address logged. This information is used only for record purposes should situation demand that we are able to provide any information required as so to assist any legal enquiry.

4 – HTTP ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES. We also collect information on the end-users (your) browser/operating system. For example, we log the type of browser used during the submission process, and the operating system, such Windows XP, for example.

5 – Statistics. We collect various details in the form web usage statistics, which includes IP addresses, Geo-Location, time and date of individual visits. None of this information can be used to identify any individual person/s.

Security and SSL (Secure Socket Layer)

On successful completion of an order for inclusion onto Dwdws.com Business Search, we will assign a unique ID to each customer. We will sometimes request that you conform this ID should you wish to discuss your account details. We will never ask you to confirm your password/s, username/s, or ID/s, unless we require validating your identification.

We will never use sub-domains within our email addresses, such email@order.dwdws.com.

All submissions and access to client login systems within Dwdws.com are done so using a 128bit SSL connection, which means that all data sent and/or received is encrypted, and cannot easily be decrypted whilst the data in “transit” between servers, and over the internet connection. All submission details are stored online, within a password-protected environment, with restricted access.

6 - Access to data. Each customer has their own login details, which they can use to update/amend their submitted details. This data is not accessible to anyone else expect for the account holder, and Dwdws.com administration. Web users care able, within the guides of the Terms of Use, search the Dwdws.com index, or database. The information displayed within the search results contains direct reference to Business/Personal Name, Business Description, and URL of [the] website/s.

7 - Cookies. We use to cookies to store information on the web-users search preferences, such as their language preferences. We also use cookies for the purposes of gathering web site usage statistics. None of this data can be used to identify you, or any other user.  

8 – Translation and 3rd Parties. We translate all submissions onto Dwdws.com, in-house. Furthermore, we may also pass on the necessary details to the Welsh Language Board for translation. These details includes the: - Title, Description, and Keywords, that you chose to provide, We do not pass on any other personally identifiable information such as email addresses.

9 – Payment details. All credit/debit card details are handled and managed by PayPal, which are tightly regulated, and both have extensive measures in place to detect and prevent fraud. For offline orders, all payments (cheques) are stored securely and are passed to our bank (HSBC) within 2 working days of receivership. All paper-based submissions are added to the online database, and are then shredded and disposed of.
